Today marks the launch of Christian Louboutin’s very first foray into perfumes—three to be exact–and we were lucky enough to get them in our office to try them first! Spoiler: They’re incredible.
Time and money were no object to Louboutin, who had these scents brewing for three years until now. He went to four best perfume houses in the world and what they came up with is seriously incredible! It was so hard to pick favorites!
The first one, Bikini Questa Sera (“Bikini Tonight” in Italian) is supposed to evoke an intimate, beachy feeling. The notes of jasmine, tuberose, and sandalwood. The second, Tornade Blonde aka “Blonde Tornado” is about a women who leaves a trail of golden light behind her. Picture you’re at a bar and see a gorgeous women who disappears in moments, leaving you wondering, “who was she?” (as the Louboutin team explained). It has a mix of violet, roses, and cassis. Finally, Trouble in Heaven is about a woman who is at ease with being sexy – provokes and doesn’t mind being provocative. The scent is the strongest of the three, with notes of bergamot, amber, patchouli, and iris.
The bottle itself is a work of art – the clam shell is supposed to emulate a Caesar or Oscar award (and honestly, we want to display it on our shelves like one!). Louboutin actually enlisted an architect, Thomas Heatherwick (who also recently designed the new London double decker buses) to come up with a classic, strong design that really gives these scents a commanding identity. There’s a mix of complexity and simplicity in the design that we’d only expect from Louboutin.
The perfumes are decadent, sexy, and quite honestly, to die for. They are all launched today at 1320
